I have always been quite an experimental person and I really
like to look around and compare stuff before I settle for something. So, it’s
been precisely seven years since I have been using Gillette Mach 3. I normally
shave on a three day’s facial growth and my Mach 3 has seriously never failed
me; no clogging, hardly any irritation, just few nicks and cuts on and off and
a week worth of a single blade.
However, last month I came across an advertisement on
Facebook by Letsshave.com that talked of better shave at half the price. I was
suddenly attracted by ‘half the price’ and
clicked the ad and before I realized it I had succumbed to my experimental
instinct and ordered a three blade razor – Pace 3.
So, here I am, a month and a half later, talking about the
differences that I drew based on my usage of both the products.
The Price
The difference here is huge. So, I am referring to it the
first.
Buying a Gillette Mach 3 cost me about 505 bucks including
the cartridges that lasted a month. However, I managed to stretch the time
period to a month and a half at times. I’ll be honest in saying that the
spending often stung me a little but I never gave much of a thought to it.
On the contrary, LetsShave Pace 3 cost me only 399 bucks
including four cartridges that lasted over a month too.
I saved almost 26.57% which is incredible. So, Pace 3 definitely
has an edge over Mach 3 when it comes to price.
The Blades
Mach 3 has 3 blades obviously, as the name suggests which
are high definition and anti-friction blades. I have used them ever since I
started shaving and I am used to a few nicks and cuts on and off especially
towards the end of the week.
Pace 3 razor again have 3 blades, of course, which are
pretty fine and have a pivoting head that contours the face. The best part is that
the blades just don’t clog and this is also what they describe Pace 3.
On face of it, both Mach 3 and Pace 3 have similar
performance.
The Handle
Mach 3 has a thin handle that I was used to of. However,
sometimes when the blades got clogged and I had to hit the razor against the
sink, the blade used to pop out of the razor. Other than that, Mach 3 handle
never gave me any discomfort.
Pace 3 handle, however, felt like an extension of my arm.
The grip was awesome despite the fact that in the beginning, I felt that the
razor was kind of fat but towards end of the month I got used to it and the
Mach 3 handle felt like a stick in my hand.
So, in terms of the handle, I would surely recommend Pace 3.
Lubricating strip
Mach 3 has a lubricating strip that begins to fade when the
blades begin to become dull.
However, I haven’t really noticed much of a change in the
color of the lavender lubricating strip in Pace 3.
Obviously, Mach 3 is giving better results here but change
of color in lubricating strip hardly has an impact on the blades and shave. So,
it doesn’t really bother me.
Changing choices
So, l think, considering the considerable price difference
and other benefits that I have derived from Pace 3, I am done with Mach 3 for
